At 6:10 p.m., the ceiling above Sumida Aquarium’s penguin pool changes into a summer night sky. Jellyfish, goldfish, penguins and other aquarium residents appear as constellations before blooming into marine-life-inspired fireworks.
This is not an outdoor fireworks display. “Sumisui Fireworks 2026” is a cool, weather-friendly aquarium experience combining projection mapping with Edo-period summer traditions. Visitors can also walk beneath 100 glass jellyfish wind chimes and discover around 15 varieties of goldfish in the Edorium exhibition.
【Event Highlights】
・Dates: July 14–September 14, 2026
・Night projection: From 6:10 p.m., approximately every 30 minutes. Each show lasts about nine minutes.
・Summer opening hours: 9:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. from July 27 to August 31. The final projection on 9:00 p.m. closing days begins at 8:40 p.m.
・Obon hours: 8:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m. from August 13–16. Admission closes one hour before the aquarium.
・Location: Sumida Aquarium, Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi 5F–6F.
・Admission: The seasonal event is included with aquarium admission. General admission is ¥2,700 for adults, ¥2,000 for high school students, ¥1,400 for elementary and junior high school students, and ¥900 for children aged three and above.
・From OTHER SPACE Asakusa: Make your way to Tobu Asakusa Station and take the Tobu Skytree Line for approximately three minutes to Tokyo Skytree Station. Sumida Aquarium is located directly beside the station, making it easy to return to Asakusa after a cooler evening indoors.
・The aquarium may adjust its opening hours due to weather. Projection content may also be changed or cancelled because of maintenance, system issues or operational circumstances.
